For more than 150 years, beer specialities have been brought from Kulmbach beyond Upper Franconia into the country and the world. In Kulmbach – known as the “secret capital of beer” – beer was brewed in 56 breweries in the 19th century. In 1846 the “praising citizens” Johann Wolfgang Reichel, Johann Konrad Scheiding and Johann Martin Hübner joined together to form a brewing community.
Historically, this is the beginning of the long beer tradition of today’s Kulmbacher Brauerei Aktien-Gesellschaft. A lot of important things have happened in the course of the history of the brewery family – just like in any family that can look back on a long tradition.
